Join us in VR for our 3rd Immersive Project Showcase Tuesday June 19th at 6 pm EST. Join Professor Takehiko Nagakura and Xu Zhang of the MIT Architecture School on a virtual trip to Peru to visit Machu Picchu. RSVP here!

Our second Immersive Project Showcase, held mid-April, brought a group of 15 people into an Electrophysiology Procedure Room at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Canada. Before that in our first ever event, we virtually visited Florida to visit the renovation of the Mar Vista Restaurant.

Now, join us now as we travel to Peru to visit a model of Machu Picchu captured via photogrammetry for architectural preservation and archiving.

What is an Immersive Project Showcase?

An Immersive Project Showcase is a virtual reality event in which an architecture or construction professional guides attendees through a virtual model of one of their projects. By sharing the space space in virtual reality, attendees can enjoy exploring the model at scale, and talk to the architect directly about their model.

About the Project

Associate Professor and Director of Computation at the MIT Architecture School, Professor Takehiko Nagakura, and research assistant Xu Zhang will be presenting their photogrammetry and preservation work being done at the historical Machu Picchu site in Peru. Their work, in conjunction with the government of Peru is allowing us to preserve, experience and learn from historical sites in completely new ways. During this Immersive Project Showcase, Professor Nagakura will walk us through a site at Machu Picchu and discuss some of the challenges and benefits of digitally preserving the historic site.

You can read Professor Nagakura’s bio here: https://architecture.mit.edu/faculty/takehiko-nagakura

If you’d like to join us, RSVP here!
